About Boot Country
On a wing and a prayer in the fall of 1982, Bill and Kay Van Fleet moved their family from Detroit, Michigan to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they opened a little western boot store in an old house on Chester Road; Ohio’s first Boot Country.
Bill brought 15 years of experience in selling and custom fitting western boots from Scott Colburn Saddlery in Farmington, Michigan, and Schneiders in Cleveland, Ohio. The Van Fleet family founded a steady stream of customers thanks to word-of-mouth and Boot Country's prime location on a busy street. The eye-catching original Red Boot Logo was hand painted by Kay Van Fleet.
More than 40 years later, through countless long days and nights filled with determination and hard work, Boot Country has expanded from that little house on Chester Road into four retail stores (and our online store) within the Tri-State area.
Retail space isn’t the only thing that has expanded for Boot Country. We now carry one of the largest supplies of work boots available locally. Bill and Kay wanted to keep the western spirit alive, but saw the potential to cater to the large work industry in the Ohio area, so they extended the company inventory and the company name: BOOT COUNTRY | WORK COUNTRY.As it stands now, you can find an extensive line of western boots and apparel, to work boots and apparel, as well as hats, jeans, leather goods, accessories and all sorts of accessories for men, women, and children.
